Mark’s professional involvement with the world of music and live events stretches back to 1979. His early career was focused on work as a bass guitarist, composer and recording producer. He produced the first official BBC Children In Need charity single, and played a supporting role with several well-known artists.
Moving into music journalism in the early 1990s, Mark contributed to a wide range of magazines worldwide, as well as writing two popular reference books – Good Vibrations: A History Of Record Production and Live & Kicking: The Rock Concert Industry In The Nineties – and creating promotional material and identity packages for music artists, promoters, record companies and major corporations.
In 1998, Mark co-founded TPi (Total Production International) – a monthly magazine for the live industry – and its associated annual TPi Awards event. Over his 13 years as the magazine’s editor-in-chief and creative director of the Awards, Mark travelled the globe to document countless major concert tours, and interviewed and collaborated with some of the world’s biggest stars.
After resigning from TPi in 2011, Mark worked for two years in a marketing role for leading live sound company Clair Global, as well as advising on numerous entertainment production initiatives worldwide and writing the official biography of Celtic rock legends, Horslips – named ‘Irish Book of the Year’ by Hot Press.
With the advent of Liveculture Group, Mark is channelling his complete range of media, marketing, music, design and event production experience into helping businesses of all sizes make the most of their brand and improve their industry position.
